Disneyland was major fun. I got to met my Belle and Jaime's daughter got to met her Cinderella.
She was up in San Francisco for the week. I took her to Color me Mine in Westlake to make a plate for him for Father's Day. Of course, she told him she painted a plate. There was drama with her mother because she had fun with "my Gladys." I was expecting the yelling to be about her daughter and me at Disneyland but instead it was about a plate and her having fun with me.
What can you do?
I was disappointed with Color me Mine though. It was Tea Thursday. Pretty much you paint a tea pot and get a tea cup for free. There were no tea cups to be found and all the sample/colored tea pots I liked, they didn't have for me to paint. Later, the sale girl tells me since it's not a popular night, they don't ordered much tea stuff and then it turned out the free tea cup was pretty much a sake cup.
I get to pick up the finished plate tomorrow. I'm hoping nothing happens to it because the next time she's up here is June. I read reviews on yelp.com and they were pretty bad. One lady said they broke most all the pieces her and her friends had worked on. =/
I finally picked up my "I hate you" neckalce! I got a 60 dollar gift card and used it towards it. I want to wear it at work but I don't think I can get away with it. They don't like me wearing the Pirate Pistol necklace so I doubt a "I hate you" one would fly at the Concierge desk.
Oh, I also did a lot of thrift shopping. I'll post pictures of my finds. I found a Scooby Doo Clue board game, VHS tapes of Sailor Moon dubbed, some tea cups, and clothes!
I just wanted to do a quick update. I hope everyone is doing well out there. I'll post pictures from Disneyland soon!
I am a thrift store whore.
I love to thrift shop and since I had time to kill today so I went to Goodwill.
I paid $2.49!!
There is a tiny crack on the top but I didn't care. It will be stack on anyways and no one will see it. The lady kept asking me if I wanted it and I kept saying YES!! I told her they retail for 20 bucks and I will take it for 2.49, crack and all.
This was the FOR THE WIN!!, item.
Now for the F A I L!!
You see that beautiful, most wonderful item? It is a Disney Mickey Mouse DVD player. It's by Memorex. It was going for 18.99. When they first came out, they retailed about 60 to 100 depending where you bought it. I plugged it in and it turned on. I hear the motor and the eject button worked. I couldn't find the remote but after walking around and chatting with Jaime. I got it.
We got home and plugged it in. It wouldn't read my Transformers DVD. It showed Goofy telling me disc error. Having Goofy pop up on my screen was cute but uh, no. My DVD is just fine. I pulled it out and popped in Dumbo. There was Goofy again. Jaime picked it up and we heard something floating inside. He took it apart and it turned out one of the wheels that holds the DVD popped out. We got it back in, after hours of trying. We plugged it back, popped in Transformers, and N O T H I N G. Goofy didn't even show up this time. We decided to leave it alone and mess with it tomorrow. I decided to check out reviews on Amazon and people kept saying the player was shitty and not to buy it.
Well damn. I'm taking it back on Friday but sadly, I don't get my 18.99 back.
I stole someone's ebay auction photo. Shhhh... don't tell them. I've been going crazy mad for some footed pj's. I found one on sale on JCPenney.com. They are pink with Penguins. OMG they are COMFY!! Anyways, as I was holding on to dear life the dvd player, I came across PINK PRINCESS FROG pj's. They said "L." I just grab them and held them hostage. I buy them for 5 bucks and come home. I got a Mickey Mouse DVD player and Footed pjs? YES!!
I tried the pjs on and I couldn't get the top portion on. They fit waist down but not up. They turned out to be "L" in KIDS!! Freaking KIDS!!! Why didn't it say "L 12-14?" No, just "L" GAH!! Not fair. The sad thing is, I've seen pictures of young adults wearing them. Also, with my weight loss, you would think I could get into them but then I realized, it's about the freaking HEIGHT!!! If I was like 5' 1" I could squeeze into them but I'm not.
Damn me for being the tall Mexican!! Why did I get my Dads height? Why couldn't I've been short like my mother? Argh!! They are so adorable and they were freaking brand new. It still had the target tag!!
I can wear them but just not have them zipped up. You know, just wear them like pants or just throw them aside and save them for Jaime's daughter. She'll probably be able to fit them in a year and she's only 4. =P
Oh yea, so I FAILED big time this shopping trip. I get to return the player but no refund. I just get a store credit but I can't return the pjs. I could sell them, save them Jaime's mini me, or just wear them but never be able to fully wear them.
*sigh*
Jaime went to the post office to pick up the package I got from JenaVi and I AM IN LOVE!!
I present to you, APPLE BOY!!
My boyfriend thinks he's the coolest!! THANK YOU JENAVI!!! She made me Apple Boy for the "pay it forward."
You have inspired to me to make more toys out of felt.
I had a blast making Cyn and just getting your present makes me want to
do MORE!! I have found another thing to make my friend for Christmas!!
Woot!! Now let's see if I can cut out a cute tooth....
Also, I had to go to UPS to pick up my package that I ordered from Joanns. It has more supplies to make the rest of my gifts. Anyways, Jaime and I hit up a goodwill on the way there and I found the cutest thing!!
His name is Cheburashka. According to Wikipedia, he's a character from a kids book in Russia. The story goes, Cheburashka is from a tropical forest. He sneaks over to a crate of oranges, eats them and falls asleep. The shop owner who gets him gives him that name because he "tumbles down." He's so numb from being in the crate that long, he just falls off the table, lands on the chair but falls from there, and hits the floor.
I found a yellow box, sitting on the shelf. I open it to see the top of the crate. I pull it out of the box and see orange sticker on it. I open it to see the doll laying on straw with plastic oranges. I had to buy him. He reminded me of Mogwai and Monchichi's.
I looked up the info online and youtube had clips of the show. I also read that the character is popular in Japan as well. I found Japanese dubbed clips too.
I get to UPS and they told me my package was on the truck again. I had called to tell them I would pick it up today but the lady punched into the computer to re deliver it. They promised me they would have it for me tomorrow. WASTE OF MY TIME!! I could be doing melt beads right now!!
I ended up kicking a box. I went to pick it up and discovered it was a scrapbooking kit from the Discovery Channel store. It was opened and the box was pretty beat up but to my surprise, everything was included.
A spiral bound album, 12 pages
16 sheets of decorative paper
1 Stencil sheet
1 sticker sheet
1 wavy edge scissors (which I have already gone crazy with!!)
8 "colorful journal pens" which just look like markers
1 photo safe glue
1 flower stamp and ink pad
1 Mini Scrapbook key chain
And it was only $1.99!!! I looked it up and it goes for $19.99 in the stores, which are sadly no longer around. I was really shocked to see this kit with everything! I have no idea what I'm going to use the album for just yet but like I said, I'm going crazy with the wavy scissors. I use to have so many but I lost them all. I think my mother might of packed them and took them to her house.
Yay!!!
On one of my many adventures I came across the most awesome thing!!
A Xyron 250 sticker machine for $1.50!!
Yes, a buck fifty!!
It didn't have a refill but that was no problem. I was so excited!!
I use to have a Xyron 510 but sold it to fund my Tokyo trip. I just haven't been able to afford another. I decided to go with a 250 instead. I only used my 510 for making stickers and not the other stuff. I also never stickered 5" items so I was wasting the sticky stuff.
The 250 is for items up to 2" and the refills are either Adhesive Permanent or Adhesive Repositionable. The 510 was both, magnets, and Laminate.
I've seen the 250 being sold in blue but the one I found is RED. It was actually sold as a Kids room project kit. You got the machine, paper, die cuts, and repositionable refill. Nothing else was included, just the machine which is fine! I paid $1.50 and the machine goes for 20 bucks in most stores.
Also, I'm bidding on 2 boxes of refill and I'm winning at 4.50!! I can't wait to get the refills so I can start using it! I use to use my 510 so much in my scrapbooking. So use to run the cut out letters and not have to deal with the mess of glue.
I haven't had a chance to take a picture of the actual red one but this a stock photo of the machine. It's cute and looks even better in red!
Okay, so after the SF Pride Festival and the Asian Art Museum, we headed down to 19th street and Valencia. My main reason in going was to check out a store some one told me about on the Pinky Street Forums.
You see the mini capsule machines in the photo? That was my reason to go. The girl posted a picture of her pinky with the 5 mini Sanrio capsule machines. They are cute and I love them. Naturally, I had to get them. I've seen on ebay Disney ones. I really want them but I have to wait til I get some money because they go for a lot.
They had Twin Little Stars, Hello Kitty, Kerokerokeroppi, The Strawberry King, and Chococat. I could only get two so I picked up the ones she only had one left. She also carries other cute random toys. Mainly the surprise box toys. There are stickers, stationary, candy, and Bobba tea.
She carries a lot of Japanese items. Sad she's all the way out in the Mission. I get lazy getting out there. Ha ha!
After that we headed over to BORDERLAND BOOKS. It's a new and used Sci-Fi and Fantasy book store. Nothing more, nothing less. Jaime liked going there all the time when he used to live out there. I have never been and since we were in the area so off we went. Of course right before we got there, we came across a Pirate store.
Yes Pirate store.
They sold everything and anything pirate stuff. It was cool and really different. We didn't buying anything which in a way was good because our wallets were pretty much hurting all week.
We finally got to Borderland Books and we looked around. I found some really interesting titles but alas, all the stuff I wanted was new. I'm trying to stick in buying used because most of the time I only read them once and leave them on the shelf. I've been meaning to pick up "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore and there was something called "The Cellar." I, like always, forgot the author. Eh, I'll find it soon enough.
We then headed back to mission and grabbed some food at Taqueria Cancun. Jaime loves the place and I could always go for some good tacos. We then walked down Mission to 16th street and visited some thrift stores along the way.
I scored the original VHS box cover of The Little Mermaid for 3.99!
Finally the box is my collection. After all the drama surrounding the damn cover art, I hadn't been able to get it for my VHS collection. It was in and out of the stores with the quickness.
If I did find it, it was priced up the ass because "it was out of print." The store also had a used Game Gear for 9.95 but it didn't have batteries or a game to try out. No one knew if it worked and I couldn't bring it back if it didn't. I decided next time I'm in the hood, bring a game and batteries. If it's still there, try it out. They even had Atari 2600 games but neither one of us has the system.
We were looking through the media section when someone over the PA system said they were closing. They closed at 7 and we didn't realize it was so late. We still had a whole half of the second floor to check out. We said we would go back when we had money.
After that we decided to head home because my ankle was killing me but I don't like to complain. It's been hurting me since that semi fall I had while a Disneyland back in January. The running joke is don't let me get churros. I was running back to the line with two churros, one in each hand. A kid cuts me off and I save the churros instead. Foot hasn't been the same. Unless I'm totally dying, I don't go to the doctors. It's always fine the next day.
That was our adventure yesterday. It was a nice way to spend a day off. Thrift store shopping is always fun, especially with him. Jaime is the only one that understands the awesomeness of finding NES games or random LPs. We can also spend hours upon hours just randomly in a book store, especially if it's used. We just lose track of time.
It's awesome!! And I leave you with this photos, which pretty much shows the awesomeness day I had!!
